There are different types of movie-lovers. Some make sure they watch movies as soon as they hit the theatres, while others prefer to enjoy their favourite films multiple times at home. And thanks to PVR, there is likely going to be a third type of movie lovers.

Dubbed Vkaao, the app was launched earlier this year. It lets users create screenings of movies at a PVR theater near them. So instead of settling for watching old movies at home, they can now get them screened whenever they want.

The concept of Vkaao is bound to make it a movie-lover's delight. Users get to choose the movie, the cinema hall and the show time. What else could they ask for, right?

While on paper it all sounds really good, we tried finding out what the app is really like. Here's what we think about it:

What Vkaao is supposed to do is very out-of the box. But there are some requirements that are needed for screening to be successful. Firstly, the movie you want to get screened should be in the PVR library. Secondly, a certain number of people are required to attend the screening or it won't not get confirmed. The number varies from one cinema hall to the other, and also depends on the show time.

Once you launch the app, you are shown the movies that are trending. These are the ones that can be screened in a theater near you. All you have to do is tap on the movie icon and join the screening.

Besides selecting from the available movies, you can also browse for films in other sections of Vkaao's library. These include sections such as Suggested, New Releases, Award Winners, Vkaao Exclusives, HollywoodBollywood and Regional. Personally, we felt that there were a lot of options to choose from.

If you want to explore a particular genre of movies, just long tap on a movie of that genre and drag it to the circular icon at the bottom of the screen. Once you do this, Vkaao will show you other movies similar to the one you have just selected. Then you can shortlist some more films.

But if you just want to create a screening instead, tap on 'More' and select 'Switch to Create.' You can then select the movie you want to watch, choose from an available date, and pick a theatre of your choice as well as the time when you would want to watch it.

Once you've entered all this information, tap on 'Create Screening.' The app will then ask you if you want your screening to be Public or Private. On selecting a Public screening, your movie will be made visible to other Vkaao users and they'll be able to join in if they wish to. On the other hand, Private screening will require you to invite the people you want to see the movie.

In the next step, you can choose the type and number of tickets you want. Once you pay for them using Paytm, your screening is created. In this very step, you can also get to know how many more participants are required for your screening to get confirmed. The number of participants required can be anything from 20 to 50 or more. However, in case your screening doesn't get confirmed, Vkaao can refund your money.

However, you get a cashback if you are able to create a successful screening.

Lastly, joining the screening of a movie is easy as well. Just go to the trending section and browse through the movies that are being screened near you. Once you've made your selection, tap on the Join option. It's worth noting that you can cancel your ticket before the screening is confirmed but not after that.

Verdict

We loved Vkaao for its concept and idea, and also for its ease of getting the movies screened. The app is fairly simple to use and it guided us at every step, so there was no confusion about its usage at any given step.

We liked the variety of movies that it offers, which include Hollywood, Bollywood and regional language movies. The cashback offers on successful screenings add to the app's appeal. We'll totally recommend this app for all music lovers.
